About the Regulations

The draft Registration Regulation sets out registration requirements for four categories of membership, including time-limited ‘grandparenting’ provisions for established Ontario practitioners applying for membership in the Registered Psychotherapist category.

The Professional Misconduct Regulation defines parameters of professional practice, identifying specific behaviours that constitute misconduct and could trigger a disciplinary action.  Provisions cover a wide range of professional activities, from record-keeping to advertising and billing practices, as well as unacceptable behaviours such as abuse of a client or a client’s representative, and inappropriate use of titles.
 
This regulation was approved by the Lieutenant Governor-in-Council and filed with the Registrar of Regulations on October 19, 2012 as O. Reg. 317/12.  It will come into force on the day the Psychotherapy Act, 2007 is proclaimed.
 
 
Lastly, the Quality Assurance Regulation provides the framework for developing the College’s quality assurance program, a statutory program designed to support members’ continuing competence through professional development activities.
 
This regulation was approved by the Lieutenant Governor-in-Council and filed with the Registrar of Regulations on January 25, 2013 as O. Reg. 34/13.  It will come into force on the day section 6 of the Psychotherapy Act, 2007 is proclaimed.
